Toddlers as young as two treated for obesity

16th January 2009

A dietician in Gwent has warned that she is treating children as young as two for obesity, while a UK study has shown 8% of girls are obese by the age of five.

In the study by Swansea University, 5% of boys were shown to be obese by the same age. Clare Baber, the dietician, said "The heavier a child is the less active they tend to be because it becomes harder to run about - it's a vicious cycle that as the child gets overweight they become less active."
