Torbay Care Trust builds shared record on CRM

Torbay Care Trust has entered into a contract with New Zealand's Simpl company in a deal which will last five years and cost £3.8 million.


The contract for community records will allow staff remote offline and in-office access and let them change or update records from any location and time zone.

District nurses will be able to open and use the system using phones or handheld PCs.

The Chief Operating Officer of the trust Mandy Seymour said it wanted to use Simpl due to its pledge to working with its clients.

She said that although a range of companies had wanted to work with the trust, Simpl's option put it at the "cutting edge" of what could be offered.

The trust, which is responsible for health and social care services in southern Devon and Torbay, has estimated it will make savings of 10-20% by the time the contract finishes.

Ms Seymour explained: "It’s absolutely our number one priority because we think it’s absolutely fundamental to our business. We feel having an integrated IT solution will take us that next step further forward in being able to deliver high quality care to the people we support."

Simpl UK EMEA regional director Paul Malcolm said: "We have a firm belief that the integration of health and social care will be on lots of agendas over the coming years and we are delighted to be working with [Torbay] as the vanguards to show what we can deliver."
