Tories hit woeful waste of money over NHS project

7th June 2007
The Government's "woeful" handling of the multi billion pound NHS IT system is wasting taxpayers money and costing patients their lives, the Tories have claimed.  Shadow Health Minister Stephen O'Brien said the 'vital' project has been hit by "design un turns and serial incompetence". The project set to cost more then £12 billion, will involve computerising medical records, allow GPs to  book hospital appointments for patients online and introduce electronic prescribing.
