Treatment for problem gamblers

19th May 2011

A report in The Lancet has called for more help for problem gamblers.

It says that while the growth of on-line casinos offers new temptations for problem gamblers, the Internet should also provide avenues to treat them. The Lancet report said that researchers have made progress recognizing and understanding gambling disorders but need to keep pace in the future with the growing access to gaming opportunities. While gambling is a recognised problem, only 10% of problem gamblers are known to seek treatment.
