Trio of reappointments at the Appointments Commission24th January 2011
The Secretary of State for Health has announced three reappointments to the Appointments Commission, the independent organisation responsible for appointing chairs and non-executives of the highest quality for NHS boards and many national public bodies.
Anne Watts CBE, the current Chair of the Appointments Commission, has been reappointed for a further year with effect from 1 April 2011.
Margaret Scott has been reappointed as a Non-executive Director and Appointments Commissioner for South Central and South East Coast for a further year, from 1 April 2011.
Gareth Hadley, the Appointments Commissioner for the East of England and East Midlands, has been reappointed for a further 11 months from 30 April 2011.
In making the appointments, Health Minister Simon Burns said:
“I am sure that Anne, Margaret and Gareth will continue to make an excellent contribution to the Appointments Commission and to the recruitment, selection and appointment services it offers to the NHS and Department of Health.
“The Commission will require good leadership as it enters a transitional period and its services eventually transfer to the Department of Health in 2012”.
Chair of the Commission Anne Watts also commented:
“I am delighted to have been reappointed alongside my colleagues, Margaret and Gareth. As the Appointments Commission enters its final year of operation, I am sure that the knowledge and experience that we collectively bring will help us to sustain the stability and assurance of the organsiation, while helping to maintain the high level of service that we will continue to deliver to the NHS until 2012.”
