Trust loses money in email scam

6th February 2013

A UK health trust has lost more than £680,000 in what it describes as a “sophisticated” email scam.

Rotherham NHS Trust in South Yorkshire, which has said it is trying to recover the money, has refused to give details of the scam because of possible legal action. The announcement comes the day after the trust said it was appointing management consultants in an attempt to deal with its financial problems. It has emerged that Rotherham NHS Trust needs to save £50m by 2015.
