Trust seeks merger

30th May 2012

Torbay and Southern Devon Health and Care Trust has abandoned plans to become a foundation trust and is now hoping to merge with another authority.

The vote by the board follows a paper to members which indicated that the organisation was unlikely to pass Monitor’s assessment process because all of its income was “subject to review” over the next two years. In a statement the trust said it not believe continuing to seek FT status alone offered the best opportunity for “maintaining and developing good integrated care.”
