Trust to cut 600 jobs

18th July 2007

Scarborough and North East Yorkshire NHS trust has told staff it intends to cut 600 jobs in a bid to save £10m.

Unison regional officer Ray Gray called the plan "a disaster". Chief Executive, Ian McInnes said the job losses would not impact the A&E department and they wanted to ensure that patient care was not affected.

Statistics from the NHS Information Centre reveal that the health service has cut 17,000 jobs in the last year.
