UK lung cancer centre

30th November 2007

Golfer Colin Montgomerie has told how his mother’s death from cancer inspired him to create a centre in her memory.

The Elizabeth Montgomerie Centre will be based in Glasgow and be the UK’s only centre of excellence for lung cancer and the only facility of its kind in Europe. The golfer has launched a £5.2m fundraising appeal for the centre, which will be a joint venture with the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and be named after his mother, who died from the disease in 1991.
