UK trust extends check-in roll-out

5th May 2009

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has said it plans to set up 54 self check-in touch screen devices by this summer.

The trust was the first in the country to introduce three units in its ophthalmology and orthopaedics outpatient departments in 2008. Bill Fisher, head of IT at Norfolk and Norwich, told e-Health Insider: "The main reason we implemented the self check-in service was because our ophthalmology department had begun to get extremely busy. The system has surpassed the expected benefits not only in managing queues but also in allowing more patients to be seen."
