Undiagnosed heart conditions in young

13th October 2008

A charity has said that 12 young people are dying every week in the UK from undiagnosed heart problems.

The charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) said the information came from the Office for National Statistics in 2005. Dr Sanjay Sharma, a consultant cardiologist at King's College Hospital in London, said: "Maybe 12 a week doesn't seem very many when you consider the thousands dying from heart attacks or heart failure in the UK every year. But what horrified me, was the age of these people - a lot of them were under eighteen."
