Unison to take legal action against Andrew Lansley

24th September 2010

Unison looks set to take legal action against health secretary Andrew Lansley for what it claims is a lack of public consultation on the NHS white paper.

It has been given permission to seek a judicial review of the steps taken to implement 'Equity and excellence: Liberating the NHS' and follows a letter from NHS chief executive Sir David Nicholson to NHS chief executives urging them to start implementing the paper straight away. Unison argues this action is unlawful because it goes against legal commitments to consultation.
