Views sought on nutrition labelling

11th February 2013

A short consultation has been launched by the British Retail Consortium on proposals for front of pack (FoP) nutrition labelling.

The guidance is based on the requirements of the EU Regulation 1169/2011 on the provision of food information to consumers along with the government’s preferred option for a hybrid FoP scheme which combines red, amber and green colours with figures showing the guidelines daily amounts in percentage terms. The BRC has been working with the Food & Drink Federation to ensure that proposals can be used by all consumers and will be practicable for food businesses.
