Vomiting outbreak closes wards

6th April 2009

The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital has shut down seven wards after an outbreak of a vomiting bug.

The hospital has also cancelled some operations and asked people to keep their children away from the hospital. Judy Potter, director of infection control, said: "Norovirus spreads very easily through contact with anyone who already has it. It is a concern that during the Easter half term holiday visitors may bring children with them into the hospital."
