Waiting time targets met

28th May 2008

The Scottish government says that waiting times across the country have dropped significantly.

Health secretary Nicola Sturgeon said all waiting time targets had been met and that so-called “hidden waiting lists had been abolished, although opposition Labour and Liberal Democrat MSPs said thousands of patients had been removed from waiting lists and referred back to their GPs.

The figures were published by the Information and Statistics Division (ISD) of the NHS in Scotland and showed a steady decline in NHS waiting times for outpatient consultations, inpatient treatment, day case treatment, diagnostic tests and attendance at accident and emergency units.
