Ward closed over hygiene concerns

26th June 2009

A ward in the neurosurgical areas of the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast has been closed after an inspection by an independent health body.

During an inspection carried out at the end of May, the Regulation Quality Improvement Authority found that Ward F fell short of the required standard of cleanliness and has since written to the Belfast Health Trust seeking immediate action. In response, the trust closed the ward for refurbishment and provided an action plan to improve hygiene on it.
