We will use NHS over 2,000 times in a lifetime

27th January 2010

Statistics released by the Department of Health have revealed that a person in England will, on average, use the NHS 2,153 times during their lifespan.

The average person will also take out 1,330 prescriptions, visit Accident and Emergency 31 times and take 12 ambulance trips. The figures were released to urge people to get involved in the work of their Local Involvement Network. Health Secretary Andy Burnham said: "The more people that get involved in their Local Involvement Network, the more powerful their voice is and therefore the more impact they can have."
