Wellbeing workshops for BT staff

8th November 2011

Staff working for one of Suffolk’s major employers now have access to a month of sessions designed to improve their wellbeing, thanks to a partnership with Suffolk Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust.
The Trust was approached by British Telecom, which employs over 100,000 people worldwide, to deliver workshops throughout November to improve mood and healthy eating, exercise, sleep, relaxation and problem-solving for staff at BT’s global innovation and development centre at Adastral Park in Ipswich.
The workshops are an extension of the sessions which are already provided to the people of Suffolk by the mental health trust’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) teams.
East Suffolk IAPT centre manager Liz Ellis said: “Three in ten employees will experience mental health problems in one year. Often some very simple techniques can aid wellbeing and self care and prevent more serious problems developing.”

Members of the public who would like to also take part in NHS-funded community wellbeing workshops, which take place in Ipswich, Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds, can book a place by calling on of Suffolk IAPT’s therapy centres 01473 296110 (Ipswich and Stowmarket) or 01284 733100 (Bury St Edmunds). For a programme of workshops, visit www.smhp.nhs.uk/iapt

As well as workshops, people wanting one-to-one help with problems of anxiety, depression or low mood can also contact IAPT direct, without the need to visit a GP. Call the above numbers for details.
