Welsh Clinical Portal sites chosen

16th August 2007

Two sites for the first version of the Welsh Clinical Portal, which will enable doctors and nurses to request tests and view results electronically, have been chosen.

They are the cardiac rehabilitation unit at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff and orthopaedics at West Wales General Hospital in Carmarthen where a results reporting capability will be available within weeks and test requesting coming on stream later this year. The portal means previously carried out manually can be completed electronically and ensure the patient’s record of treatment and tests can be kept together in one place.
