Welsh health boards to directly employ practice nurses6th April 2009
New plans by the government could see nurses in Wales employed by local health boards (LHBs) rather than GP practices.
According to the document A Community Nursing Strategy for Wales, published in March, money would allow practices to give student nurses placements. Eileen Munson, chair of the Welsh Practice Nurse Association, said: "We still have nurses who don’t even have contracts. Lots of nurses, because of the current climate, are having to self fund and take annual leave to train."
