Wii need exercise too

Research by scientists in Liverpool has shown playing computer games which require physical activity - for example on the Nintendo Wii -  is "no substitute for real exercise".

A team of researchers working at Liverpool John Moore's University discovered that although playing games using the consoles made users burn "more energy than traditional computer games", it did not come close to the amount of energy used when taking traditional forms of exercise.
