Working beats depression

According to a study of 500 people who had been signed off work sick, returning to work actually helped them to recover from depression.

Dr Gordon Parker, of the Society of Occupational Medicine, which performed the study, said: "Employers are often frightened of contacting an employee for fear of being accused of harassment but sympathetic contact and early help through occupational health can identify the most ­appropriate support".
