SensiumVitals® is an ultra-low power wireless system to monitor the vital signs of general care patients. The system comprises light-weight, wearable, single patient use patches, that monitor patients’ heart-rate, respiration rate and temperature every two minutes, and wirelessly communicate those vital signs via a bridge to the nurse station or any web-enabled device. This compares to current hospital practice, where the majority of patients on general wards have vital signs taken once every four to eight hours. SensiumVitals® provides early detection of patient deterioration, allowing for early intervention, shorter hospital stays and reduced treatment costs. SensiumVitals® is the first ultra-low power, wearable, wireless patient monitoring product to have received FDA (510k) clearance. In March 2013, the results of a pilot study in a Los Angeles hospital demonstrated significant clinical and economic benefits.
