What are cancer networks?
A managed clinical network is the structural framework to implement the NHS Cancer Plan and therefore deliver comprehensive, high quality and consistent cancer services across the network population. Cancer Networks are responsible for:

What is the Sussex Cancer Network?
The Sussex Cancer Network (SCN) was established in 1996 and covers an area from Worthing to Haywards Heath and Hastings.

It is a network of multidisciplinary groups that work together to:

The SCN also provides a central point of contact for all parties formally involved in the development and delivery of cancer services and programmes across the Network. This includes patient and carer representatives.

What are the aims of the Sussex Cancer Network?
The overall aim of the scn is to ensure that comprehensive, high quality and consistent cancer services and programmes for prevention and screening are provided across the networks area whilst implementing the NHS Cancer Plan.

The Sussex Cancer Network 3 key aims are to:

  1. reduce people's risk of developing cancer and help them to stay healthy
  2. assist the early diagnosis of cancer
  3. enable patients whatever their age, wherever they live to receive treatment and care that is of a uniformly high standard
